Ranthambhore, Panna, Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Tadoba, Pench, Nagarahole, Bandipur and Corbett these are some of the tiger reserves in India where one can be very lucky and see these wonderful big cats.

This year I was in the first three and Ranthambhore has many famous male and female tigers that show themselves around the beautiful lake and deserted palace. The tension when the signs are evident, the noises and alarm calls and then the sighting…truly fabulous, sometimes lengthy but often only fleeting it leaves the visitor breathless and elated.

I had a similar experience in Gir in Gujarat last year and sighted lions on three occasions, all of which were ‘leisurely’ with lovely photography resulting…but sometimes one just wants to feast the eyes on these glorious creatures and not fumble with cameras…and just keep it in the visual memory.

You can read more about tiger reservations and India's wildlife parks in my book India:The Tiger's Roar.
